Students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport awarded remarkable achievements on the National Skills Competition 2020

The National Skills Competition 2020 organized from September 28 to October 10, 2020 with the participation of 491 teams. Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport (UT-HCMC) had 09 students participated with the subjects: Web design and development, Mechanical engineering design - Computer aided design (CAD), IT software solutions, Automotive technology.

This year’s competition has been renewed and executed the Prime Minister’s Directive 24/CT-TTg dated 28/05/2020 to promotes the development of skilled labor force, contributing to improving labor productivity and national competitiveness in the new situation and adapt to changing trends in the country, region and world.

In the end, 290 candidates won prizes in a total of 505 competitors: 122 candidates received the Certificates of excellent vocational skills, 69 candidates got Bronze medals, 28 candidates got Silver medals, 71 candidates got the Gold medals. Especially, UT-HCMC’s students awarded 04 Gold medals (Phan Trong Tin, Phan Viet Tan, Le Van Loc with Web design and development; Nguyen Van Toan with IT software solutions), 01 Silver medal (Nguyen Ngoc Linh with IT software solutions); 01 Bronze medal (Nguyen Quang Huy with Web design and development), and 02 Encouragement prizes (Pham Tien Phong with Mechanical engineering design – CAD; Dao Anh Viet with Automotive technology). As a result, according to organizers, at least 03 students of UT-HCMC will represent Vietnam to attend ASEAN Skills Competition which will be scheduled to hold on October 4th, 2021 in Singapore.

The competition was a good opportunity for UT-HCMC’s students to demonstrate their skills and also an occasion to honor the young and dynamic labor force with high skills on the basis of National Skills Qualification Framework, ASEAN’s Skills Standards and in the world. Moreover, the competition also promotes young labor force with high skills to keep up with the development trend of production, trading activities and advanced science and technology in the new era.

At the opening ceremony, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has been honored and awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for some excellent contestants with excellent achievements in the ASEAN Skills Competition and the world. Student Le Thanh Duong (class KM15, Faculty of Information Technology, UT-HCMC), achieved the excellent certificate of the 45th WorldSkills Competition held at the KAZAN EXPO International Exhibition Centre in Kazan, Russia in August 2019, honorably rewarded the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister on this occasion.
