Officials, lecturers and students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport honorably attended the Opening Ceremony of Academic Year 2018-2019

On September 24th, 2018, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport (UT-HCMC) ceremonially celebrated the Opening Ceremony of Academic Year 2018-2019 with the attendances of 400 officials, lecturers, students of UT-HCMC and agencies, businesses.

Before the Opening Ceremony of Academic Year, all participants held a one-minute silence in memory of Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang, who passed away on September 21 in Hanoi.

The Academic Year 2017 – 2018 is the fourth year, which our country continues implementing the Resolution No. 29 on the comprehensive renovation of education and training, and the third year on implementing of the Resolution of the National Party Congress, term 2015 - 2020. In the past academic year, UT-HCMC has completed a well-planned mission of the academic year under the UT-HCMC’s strategic plan, creating a solid development for upcoming academic years. The leading brand of UT-HCMC is increasingly well-known, the prestige of officials and lecturers is enhanced and trusted by students’ parents. Assoc. With the goals of enhancing the quality of training to provide and creating high-level human resources, meeting needs of the social work profession are always the leading objective of UT-HCMC. In the framework of the Opening Ceremony of Academic Year, on behalf of Leaders Board, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thu, Party Committee Secretary, President of UT-HCMC signed the Cooperation Memorandum with Tongmyong University, Korea.

Contributing to the ranked third of Vietnam’s delegation on the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition in Thailand, is asserted by the excellent knowledge and skills of UT-HCMC’s students in the hearts of international friends. In order to recognize of these impressive achievements, President of UT-HCMC offered the Certificate of Merit and rewards for 03 students of UT-HCMC, who had excellent achievements on the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition in Thailand, including: Nguyen Ngoc Vuong (CN14B Class - Faculty of Information Technology) with a gold medal (for IT software solutions), Le Qui Nhất (CN14B Class - Faculty of Information Technology) with a bronze medal (for Web design and development), Le Thanh Duong (KM15 Class - Faculty of Information Technology) with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellent Skills.

At the ceremony, wishing to arouse the spirit of overcoming difficulties, building the ambition for new students, UT-HCMC and businesses awarded 44 scholarships with a total value of nearly 120 million VND for the new students. Center of Business Relations and Students Support also announced the scholarship fund nearly 400 million VND from the exterior budget that the businesses have sponsored UT-HCMC in the academic year 2018-2019.
