Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport’s lecturers attended the ENHANCE Asia Symposium at Udayana University, Indonesia

From 20 to 23 December, 2022, the delegation of lecturers from Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport (UTH) attended the Asia Symposium and field trip to Udayana University in Indonesia within the scope of the ENHANCE Project.

The ENHANCE (Enabling Humanitarian Attributes for Nurturing Community–Based Engineering) is a project sponsored by Eramus + CBHE. The project is co-chaired by the University of Warwick, UK and the University of West Attica, Greece with the participation of 8 member universities from Bangladesh, Indonesia and Vietnam (Ho Chi minh City University of Transport and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology).

Within the scope of the ENHANCE Project, from 20 to 23 December, 2022, UTH’s lecturers delegation attended the ENHANCE Asia Symposium at Udayana University in Indonesia.

On December 20 and 21, 2022, the main symposium program included many presentations by keynote speakers from the project's member countries. The symposium at Udayana University in Indonesia drew the attention of experts and guests with its detailed presentations on topics such as climate change, sustainable development, new technologies, project accomplishments, and the implementation of teaching and learning programs in universities in member countries.

On December 22 and 23, 2022, project members participated in a field trip at the wastewater treatment system in Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia. Here, the delegation was introduced how the system is operated and treated waste and how microorganisms are used in the wastewater treatment process.

After that, the delegation had the opportunity to learn about the construction of a flood control dam in Klungkung, Bali, Indonesia. This project controls the flow of river water and mud caused by rain and flood to protect local residents’ lives. Here, the delegation had the opportunity to learn more about the design and importance of building flood control dams and breakwaters in significant projects in Bali, Indonesia to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The symposium’s topics have the potential to launch new projects, assist in the development of training programs for member universities’ technical field, integrate humanitarian elements into curricula, and ensure that graduates can apply their professional knowledge to serve the their communities in a meaningful and long-lasting way.
