Excellent students of International Training Program were honorably awarded VND 300 million scholarship at the Opening Ceremony of Academic Year of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport

On Monday morning, September 24^th, 2018, on the memorable occasion of UT-HCMC’s Opening Ceremony of Academic Year, International Education and Cooperation Institute (IEC), under directly UT-HCMC ceremonially celebrated the Opening Ceremony of Academic Year of International Training Program and awarded scholarships valued over 300 million VND to new students of majors: Ports and Logistics Management (training collaboration with Tongmyong University, Korea), Mechanical,  Construction and Electrical  Engineering (training collaboration with Arkansas University, USA).

International Education and Cooperation Institute (IEC) was honored to welcome the attendance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thu, Party Committee Secretary, President of UT-HCMC, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dong Van Huong, Deputy Party Committee Secretary, Vice President of UT-HCMC and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ba Hoang, Vice President of UT-HCMC. Attending the ceremony, there was also the participation of international representatives (partner of Ports and Logistics Management program): DR. Jung. Hong-Sub, President of Tongmyong University; Mr. Kewon, Director of International Relations Department of Tongmyong University, Korea; and Dr. Nguyen Tien Thuy, Director of IEC; Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of International Relations Department, officials, lecturers, parents and more than 100 students studying international collaboration training program.

At the beginning of the speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thu, Party Committee Secretary, President of UT-HCMC congratulated and welcomed 87 new students to officially take part in the course of UT-HCMC’s international collaboration training program in academic year 218. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thu emphasized, "With tendency of international integration, higher education plays a very important role in providing of high-level quality human resources for the labor market. In this era, professional knowledge seems not to be enough; graduates need mastering the soft skills such as the ability to communicate, ability to work in groups, independent thinking and English skills as well. International collaboration training program at UT-HCMC has been opening and operating with mission on providing students with the important skills. In the next four years, along with the teaching staff of the two countries and students’ relentless efforts in a friendly living and studying environment, students will graduate from their university with not only the essential skills, but also state of open mind and being ready for facing every challenges”.

At the Opening Ceremony of Academic Year, representatives of Tongmyong University, Korea and UT-HCMC signed the Cooperation Memorandum on recognizing IEC as the only representative of Tongmyong University in the South of Viet Nam in overseas study consultancy and support. HCM is the only representative in the South of Tongmyong UNIVERSITY in counseling, and the Cooperation Memorandum helps the relationship between Tongmyong University and UT-HCMC to develop more strongly and sustainably.

On the new academic year 2018-2019, International Education and Cooperation Institute (IEC) decided to award the scholarships worth more than 300 million for the new excellent students gained the best results on National High School Graduation Examination and IELTS certificate as requested.

With students’ great learning efforts of international collaboration training program in the past year, the IEC Institute has honored four excellent students: Mai Pham Bao Nhi (with the best result of Ports and Logistics Management major), Ho Viet Hau (with the best result of Construction and Mechanical Engineering major), Mai Trung Chien (the second best result of Ports and Logistics Management major), Tran Nguyen Ngoc Hoa (with the third best result of Ports and Logistics Management major).

The academic year 2018-2019 with new mission, Tran Bao Nguyen, valedictorian of Ports and Logistics Management major of international collaboration training program in 2018, representative of 20 excellent students gained scholarships made a  speech to express their grateful attitude to Board of Management of UT-HCMC and IEC Institute for giving good conditions and awarding the meaningful scholarships for new students and promised to strive continuously to complete excellently the course, be worthy of students’  international collaboration training program, who are always dynamic, creative and integrated.
