Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

1/ Introduction

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was established under the Decision No 29/2001/TCCB dated on 27 June 2001 by the President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport. Together with the development of the university, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has continuously flourished. At the present, The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is a interdisciplinary faculty with 4 majors in the university level, 1 major in college level and 1 major in post-graduate. All the training levels in regular inter-college programs and in-service training have also been carried out at the university and southern provinces. The number of students studying at the faculty is over 1.5000.

There are over 40 lecturers in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Most of them have got the degrees in MA, MSc, Dand some of them are post-graduate stuents.

Now, the faculty administrates 5 sub-departments, 1 practice workshop and a system of laboratories and practice rooms. In those places, there are numerous modern equipments such as CAD/CAM/CNC laboratories, automobile diagnosis, arranging machine, construction machinary,...

After 15 years of establishment and developmet, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has provided thousands of engineers for the tranport sector. In the near future, the Faculty shall continue to improve the quality, enlarge the training scale, expand the majors, emplement the high quality programs and inter-training programs so that we can meet the high demand for the human resources.

The trainin programs that the faculity is considering training in the next year: automatic engineering technology; railway engineering; high quality automobile mechanics.
